Brentwood DC Homes for Sale

The Brentwood neighborhood in Northeast Washington, DC is named after the Brentwood Mansion at Florida Ave. and 6th Street, N.E, which was built by Robert Brent, the first mayor of what was then called Washington City. The mansion burned down in 1917 after standing for 100 years. Located near the Rhode Island Metro Station, and the location of an extraordinary amount of planned redevelopment, the neighborhood that offers Brentwood homes for sale is about to be reinvented. Nearby neighborhoods including Edgewood, Eckington and Brookland offer an alternative to Brentwood real estate while being in the same general area of Washington, DC.

Brentwood Real Estate and Townhomes

Current Brentwood real estate for sale includes older townhomes  and single family homes that are ready for renovation and immense plans for redeveloping the area are underway. MRP Realty is demolishing the Rhode Island Center, a retail space adjacent to the Metro station to build 1.56 million square feet of residential space and 245,000 square feet of retail space. The project entails seven buildings which will hold over 1,500 residential units, ranging from studios to three bedrooms. Mid-City Financial Corp also has construction plans for over 1,700 rental units to be added to the Brookland Manor apartment complex. Eventually, there will be a greater amount of Brentwood homes for sale accessible to the public, but for the time being, Brentwood real estate remains in limited availability.

Lifestyle and Amenities in Brentwood

With so much construction in the area, it’s safe to say that Brentwood will be a much different neighborhood in the next few years. It’s location off of the Red line means that it is only a train ride away from many of the city’s best destinations. Rhode Island Row holds a large retail space with retailers such as CVS, and restaurants like Sala Thai, Bergami’s and The Carolina Kitchen. Nearby Rhode Island Place hosts a Home Depot, Giant, and TJ Maxx.

Popular attractions in the area include:

  • Galludet University
  • Brookland  Monroe Street Market
